Rapa Nui National Park (Easter Island)

Easter Island

The UNESCO-certified home of the world-famous “moai” statues.

Located 2,300 miles west of the Chilean mainland, the isolated Easter Island is home to nearly 1,000 statues carved from solidified volcanic ash by the Rapa Nui people between 1100 and 1680 AD. Its UNESCO-certified national park is the highlight. In addition to its famous stone heads, built to commemorate Rapa Nui leaders, the park boasts restored stone houses and a volcanic crater/quarry known as Rano Raraku.
